Dreams Take Flight: Inspiring Role Models Motivate GEM Girls at NTPC Korba
NTPC Limited Korba’s Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) continues to inspire and empower young minds through its impactful Role Model Initiative, where accomplished personalities from diverse fields interact with GEM girls and encourage them to dream big, pursue excellence, and emerge as confident individuals.
Now in its seventh year, the GEM programme at Korba has consistently worked towards the holistic development and empowerment of young girls from nearby communities. Over the years, the initiative has positively impacted and benefited nearly 660 girls, helping them build confidence, enhance their skills, and broaden their aspirations for the future.
In a series of highly motivating sessions conducted from 22nd to 25th May 2026, the GEM girls had the privilege of interacting with distinguished personalities whose inspiring journeys and achievements left a lasting impression on the young participants.
On 22nd May 2026, Col. Senthil Kumar S from the Indian Army addressed the girls and shared inspiring experiences from his life and professional journey. Highlighting the importance of discipline, courage, determination, and dedication towards one’s goals, he motivated the girls to remain resilient in the face of challenges and believe in their inner strength.
Addressing the participants, he remarked, “Success does not come overnight. Discipline, hard work, and self-belief are the strongest weapons that can help you overcome every challenge in life.”
Continuing the inspiring series, on 23rd May 2026, Madhuri Som, Joint Collector of Korba, interacted warmly with the GEM girls and encouraged them to pursue education, embrace confidence, and work tirelessly towards their ambitions. Through her insightful interaction, she emphasized the significance of perseverance, continuous learning, and empowering oneself to contribute positively to society.
Motivating the young girls, she shared, “Never limit your dreams. With dedication, confidence, and education, every girl has the power to create her own identity and inspire others.”
Adding another enriching chapter to the initiative, on 25th May 2026, Sanju Devi Rajput, Mayor of Korba, interacted with the GEM girls and shared valuable insights from her journey in public service and leadership. She spoke about the importance of education, determination, self-belief, and social responsibility in achieving success and becoming empowered citizens.
Encouraging the girls to remain persistent in the face of difficulties, she said, “Every success story has a struggle behind it. Challenges are a part of life, but with determination and hard work, success surely follows.”
All the sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from the GEM girls, who actively interacted with the dignitaries, asked thoughtful questions, and drew inspiration from their remarkable journeys. The interactions not only broadened their perspectives but also instilled confidence, motivation, and a renewed determination to achieve their aspirations.
