The campaign was successfully concluded with a cultural program in the august presence of Collector Mrs. Ranu Sahu.

Korba, June 16: NTPC Korba organized “Girl Empowerment Campaign” for education, health, nutrition and empowerment of 120 girl child from rural backgrounds. This one-month long campaign was successfully completed in the august presence of Korba Collector Smt. Ranu Sahu.

The program started with the welcome address and greetings of the guests. Thereafter, the Collector gave permission to start the program by lighting the lamp. Shri Kaushal Tendulkar, Sectional Officer, Katghora, Chief General Manager, NTPC Korba Shri P M Jena, Maitri Mahila Samiti President Smt. Rajshree Jena, General Manager Operation & Maintenance Shri P Ram Prasad, Maitri Mahila Samiti Vice President Shrimati Geeta Ram Prasad, General Managers , Heads of Department, office bearers of Maitri Mahila Samiti, officials of Union Association and employees of NTPC Korba were present in the ceremony.

After lighting the lamp, NTPC song was played and cake cutting ceremony was held. In the program, the collector encouraged the outstanding performing girls by giving them meritorious certificates.

In her address, she said that “Women and girls need to be inspired to move forward in life. NTPC’s campaign in this direction is certainly a good initiative. NTPC is situated in Korba as one of the big PSU and working in nearby village under Corporate Social Responsibility. I wish that NTPC will continue to organize programs like industrial tours to encourage the children of nearby villages. I also hope that these girls keep moving forward like this and fulfill their dreams”.

Addressing the gathering in the program, Chief General Manager Mr. P M Jena said that “Since this empowerment campaign was started, up till now I am seeing a strong positive change in these girls. In a short span of time, the talent and self-confidence of the girl child has increased tremendously. The talent of the girl child has increased due to the support provided through the campaign. The aim of the girl empowerment campaign is that the talent of the girl child should be increased further. I wish these girls a bright future”.

The formal part of the program was followed by various cultural programs. First, the girls welcomed the guests by singing the welcome song, after which the girls started the cultural program with Ganesh Vandana.

In this episode, the girls sang various songs and performed drama and art in the context of girl empowerment. Folk dances of 6 states were also shown in the program to prominently show the culture of India. During the cultural program, the anchoring was done by the girls, Kumari Yamini Dansena and Kumari Roshni, associated who were beneficiaries of the Girl Empowerment Mission.

In all the cultural programs, the girls participated enthusiastically and performed wonderfully. All the guests present in the program were mesmerized by the talent of the girls and praised the hard work of the girls.

The purpose of the concluding ceremony was to showcase the budding talent of the girl child and promote her talent. NTPC Korba wishes these girls a bright future.
